How TRITON Supplements Work Together

TRITON reef supplements are a research-developed dosing system that combines ICP-OES water analysis with targeted supplementation — every product informed by 500,000+ laboratory analyses and ongoing Great Barrier Reef research.

Most supplement brands sell bottles. TRITON built a system. An ICP test measures 45 parameters in your water. Your results generate personalised recommendations — which TRITON products to use, how much to dose, and when to re-test. Every product exists because the data said it was needed, not because the market wanted another bottle on the shelf.

Testing informs dosing. Dosing is tracked over time. And every new test makes the recommendations more precise. The only company that tests your water, conducts R&D at the Great Barrier Reef, AND produces your supplements.

"Every TRITON product exists because the data said it was needed — not because the market wanted another bottle on the shelf. Our ICP database of 500,000 analyses and our research at the Great Barrier Reef tell us exactly what reef aquariums consume, and we formulate and develop accordingly. We can even target specific problems and observe how nature handles them naturally."

Targeted Trace Element Supplements

TRITON offers 17 individual trace element supplements — including iodine, strontium, iron, and vanadium — each formulated based on our understanding of reef habitats and coral needs. Dosing is guided by ICP-OES results, not guesswork.

For automated precision, MYTE blends all required elements into two personalized bottles monthly. When your ICP test shows a specific element is low, you can target it directly — dosing based on your results, not assumptions.

Reef Tank Treatments — Solve Problems at the Source

TRITON reef treatments target specific problems identified by ICP-OES or N-DOC analysis. Detox removes heavy metals without harming corals. CYA-NO addresses cyanobacteria outbreaks. RTN-X supports recovery from rapid tissue necrosis. Each treatment solves the root cause, not the symptoms.

Organic Reef Nutrition — Feed Your Reef, Not Your Algae

TRITON Organics are developed using N-DOC testing — the only organic carbon analysis available for reef aquariums. Biobase provides balanced coral nutrition. X-PAND stimulates polyp expansion. Organic Support serves ultra-low nutrient systems. All products are calibrated against TRITON Ratios (N:C:P) to feed corals without fuelling algae.

Corals need organic nutrition, but blind dosing of amino acids and carbon sources causes more problems than it solves. TRITON Organics are calibrated against real N-DOC data — organic chemistry you can measure, not guess.

  • Biobase — Balanced daily coral nutrition
  • X-PAND — Immediate polyp expansion
  • N‑FUSE — Delivering nutrients directly to your coral

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Reef Products

What reef supplements do I need for my aquarium?

It depends on your water chemistry — and the only way to know for certain is a water test. Start with a TRITON ICP analysis. Your results will show exactly which elements are depleted or accumulating, and our personalised recommendations tell you which products to use and how much to dose. For most reef tanks, Core7 Flex Base Elements covers the foundation: calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and all essential trace elements — available in 4-Part, 3-Part, or 2-Part format. Beyond that, individual supplements or MYTE can address specific needs identified by your ICP results.

What is the difference between Core7 Flex Base Elements and Reef Supplements?

Both are high-concentration dosing systems available in 4-Part, 3-Part, or 2-Part format. The difference is the trace element composition. Base Elements is formulated for the full TRITON Method, which includes a refugium with macroalgae. The refugium consumes certain trace elements as the algae grow, so Base Elements replenishes them utilising Infusion. Reef Supplements is designed for systems without a refugium — it contains adjusted trace element levels to account for the different element consumption pattern. If you use the full TRITON Method with a sump and refugium, choose Base Elements. If you use a different approach (carbon dosing, biopellets, regular water changes), choose Reef Supplements.

Can I use TRITON products with my existing dosing method?

Yes. All TRITON products are specifically designed for compatibility with existing dosing methods. Whether you run a 2-part system, Balling method, calcium reactor, or kalkwasser — TRITON products deliver research-backed supplementation in a format that fits your setup.

You don't need to switch everything at once. Many reef keepers start with an ICP test and gradually transition to the full TRITON Method over time.

Alternatively, you can simply use individual products like AL99 or Carbon for their high quality, or TRITON trace elements for their precision and effectiveness.

How do TRITON supplements compare to two-part dosing?

Two-part dosing maintains calcium and alkalinity — two critical parameters. It works, and many reefers use it successfully. The TRITON system goes further: Core7 supplies calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, and all essential trace elements in one integrated system. Combined with ICP testing, it monitors 41+ parameters (not just two) and provides personalised dosing guidance. The key difference is visibility: two-part dosing requires manual home testing for two parameters, while the TRITON system gives you lab-grade data on your entire water chemistry and tells you what to do with it.

What supplements does a reef tank need beyond calcium and alkalinity?

Calcium and alkalinity — along with magnesium — are the most consumed elements ("the big three" in the community). But corals also need trace elements in small amounts: iodine for metabolic processes, strontium for skeletal growth, iron and manganese for enzyme function, and more. These trace elements are consumed slowly but steadily. Without replenishment, deficiencies develop over months — often invisible until corals start losing colour or growth slows. Core7 includes essential trace elements alongside the macro elements. For targeted correction, individual supplements or MYTE can address specific deficiencies identified by ICP testing.

How do I know which TRITON products my reef needs?

Your ICP test results are the answer. After your water sample is analysed, you receive personalised recommendations in the TRITON dashboard — including which products to use, how much to dose, and specific guidance for your reef's habitat type. Start with an ICP test. Your results will map directly to the products your reef needs. No guessing, no generic advice — data-driven decisions based on your water chemistry.

Are TRITON products compatible with calcium reactors?

Yes. If you run a calcium reactor, you have two options:

Option 1 (recommended): TRITON Infusion — provides all trace elements without calcium or alkalinity, so it supplements exactly what your reactor doesn't supply. Simple: reactor for macros, Infusion for traces.

Option 2: Core7 Flex Reef Supplements — an integrated system that covers both macro and trace elements alongside your reactor.

Both approaches work and are guided by your ICP results. Infusion is typically the simpler option (one product), while Core7 Flex offers more granular dosing control.

Due to its higher pH, Core7 can also help stabilise calcium reactor operation and allows finer control over system pH — a technique used in many public aquariums worldwide.

All TRITON products can also be used in combination with a calcium reactor as part of a complete system approach.
