Instead of dosing each element separately every day, you create one 30-day batch that delivers all selected elements in a single daily dose. This is ideal for aquarists who have identified specific trace element deficiencies through ICP-OES testing and want to simplify their dosing routine.
Your aquarium volume determines the maximum safe dosage for each element. The calculator enforces dosing limits that scale with your system size to prevent overdosing. For example, the maximum Iodine dose for a 200-litre aquarium is different from one with 500 litres. If you enter a value above the safe limit, the calculator will automatically cap it and notify you.
The Pro Elements — Chromium and Cobalt — are trace elements that can be harmful to reef aquarium inhabitants when overdosed. They are hidden by default because they should only be dosed by experienced aquarists who have confirmed a deficiency through ICP-OES testing and understand the risks involved. When you enable Pro mode, the calculator displays a safety warning reminding you to dose consciously and monitor all animals.
Follow the recipe in the exact order listed. Start by adding the specified volume of ultrapure water (RO/DI water) to a clean dispensing container. Then add each TRITON Reagent in the listed order and volume. The total solution lasts 30 days. Dose the calculated daily amount each day, ideally at the same time. Store the mixed solution in a cool, dark place and shake gently before each use.
Single element dosing is the safest option because it eliminates the risk of compounding measurement errors across multiple elements. A mix is more convenient but introduces more potential for user error during preparation. TRITON recommends using this calculator only if you are an experienced aquarist comfortable with precise measurements.
